Job Summary
The Senior Product Designer creates innovative, user-friendly mobile apps, web platforms, and software that meet user and business needs. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, this role ensures seamless experiences and enhanced functionality. A UX leader and user advocate, the designer translates research into impactful design strategies and helps shape both current projects and the long-term product vision.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Collaborates with technical product owners, analysts, business stakeholders, and customers to understand product requirements and user needs.
- Solves complex design challenges with creative and effective solutions, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Leads product design direction and creates intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for mobile apps, web platforms, and software applications.
- Produces wireframes, prototypes, deliverables, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
- Utilizes user-centered research methods and conducts usability testing to validate designs.
- Communicates design rationale and transforms research findings into actionable insights and design strategies.
- Continuously iterates on product designs based on feedback from users, stakeholders, research, and testing.
- Performs occasional UX audits, upholds usability principles, and makes recommendations for consistent user experiences across the platform.
- Works with development and QA teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs and provides design feedback during sprint cycles.
- Partners with developers on the creation and maintenance of libraries, style guides, design systems, and reusable design components for use across all technologies.
- Ensures designs are consistent with brand guidelines and product vision.
- Stays up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies in the IT and software development industries.
Non-essential Functions
- Performs off-hours support as needed.
- Promotes and maintains the identity and reputation of the company, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing problems and complaints as they arise.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience, required.
- Three plus years proven experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or similar role in IT product design
Skills and Abilities
- Professional portfolio demonstrating UX craft and design skills across digital products (mobile apps, web platforms, and software applications).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on user-centered design principles.
- Experience in Information Architecture (IA), Usability, Interaction Design (IxD), Visual Design, and Facilitation.
- Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in user-centered design processes and techniques, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to tell compelling stories about users, present projects to peers across disciplines, and defend design decisions to key stakeholders.
- A keen interest in technology, an awareness of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and an understanding of how design translates to code.
- Knowledge of core interaction patterns and digital interface best practices, including accessibility guidelines and inclusive design principles.
