University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.
Position Summary
Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 9/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $6,586.54-$8,666.50 per month.
Location: Off campus. Palm Desert Entrepreneurial Resource Center (ERC Palm Desert)
Work Schedule
40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required. Incumbent must be able to participate in remote or on campus work depending on the directives from the CSUSB campus.

Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the Director, the Lead Business Counselor will work independently to:
Lead Responsibilities (These involve supervising, mentoring, decision-making, or managing other staff or organizational efforts.)- Mentor entry- and mid-level business counselors; provide guidance and oversight on client cases.
- Lead program initiatives, including identifying community partnerships and managing high-impact projects.
- Collaborate with leadership to assess program impact and implement improvements.
- Assist with recruiting and selecting staff.
- Provide training to new consultants on CVWBC procedures, policies, and consulting guidelines and expectations.
- Provide ongoing direction and training to help Business Consultants meet performance and program goals.
- Support organizational improvement efforts through involvement with internal committees, special projects, and assessments.
- Communicate expectations and results of marketing efforts to staff.
- Review and approve consulting Scope of Work forms of CVWBC Consultants.
- Review Neoserra sessions and update consultant activity logs for Director review.
- Administer and review client files for consultants to ensure compliance.
- Assist in implementing changes and policies for inputting and reporting data for consultants and resource partners.
- Provide advanced one-on-one business counseling sessions for complex client challenges (e.g., scaling, hiring, business model transition).
- Design and deliver specialized workshops for mid- to advanced-level entrepreneurs.
- Capture program metrics, track client progress, and submit reports to leadership.
- Collect and draft success stories for marketing and advocacy.
- Implement and monitor marketing efforts; develop action plans and assess their effectiveness.
- Conduct follow-up activities to enhance service delivery and assessment.
- Driving in the Riverside and San Bernardino County.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in small business consulting, entrepreneurship, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in assisting clients with scaling operations, securing\ funding, and overcoming complex challenges.
