Full-Time 7a-7p 36 hours a week. 3 12-hour shifts including weekends. 


Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is to coordinate the care on the assigned shift and provide leadership to the staff with direct oversight of the LPNs and LNAs.


Qualifications: 

Education/ Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Vermont RN license in good standing. 


Other Requirements: Computer skills and familiarity with using an electronic medical record essential. Excellent customer services skills. Strong team player.  

Requirements

Essential Functions Of The Position:

  • Development of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Implementation of physician’s orders to include medication administration and treatments.
  • Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy.
  • Educates patients on medical procedures and patient’s personalized plan of care.
  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays.
  • Initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
  • Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients. Changes dressings, inserts catheters, starts IVs as well as prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient as needed.
  • Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-hospitalization home care needs.
  • Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
  • Participates in discharge planning.
  • Records patients’ medical information, vital signs and care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
