Description

V.Ships Leisure is looking for Assistant Cruise Director on behalf of Azamara Cruises.

This position is responsible for working with the Cruise Director to coordinate, schedule, and supervise the guest activities presented by the Entertainment Division.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs/participates in key driver events where needed
• Performs a solo 45-minute high quality, guest entertainer style show in the Cabaret Lounge
• Socializes with guests at ideal times such as sea days and cocktail hours, to lead the Entertainment Team by example.
• Hosts and co-hosts activities, games, and events as required, ensuring consistent quality and energy across all guest touchpoints. 
• Must host each bingo game session.
• As the owner of the Bingo program, s/he must oversee the entire bingo operation. S/he complies with all Bingo procedures; inventory, promotion, selling of cards, verifying and completion of end of cruise paperwork. Financial results of Bingo performance will be reflected on the Assistant Cruise Director EOC evaluation.
• Responsible to meet and/or exceed the target revenue APD.
• Assists in all capacities in achieving revenue increases in areas related to the Entertainment & Cruise Programs Department, as requested by the Cruise Director.
• Monitors the various budgets for the Entertainment & Cruise Programs Department relating to supplies and equipment, including, but not limited to, sports equipment, prizes, and games.
• Maintains and supervises all lockers and storage areas for the Entertainment & Cruise Programs Department.
• Monitors the safekeeping of various costumes and props used by the Entertainment & Cruise Programs Department.
• Using MXP the Assistant Cruise Director prepares and submits requisitions for prizes and activity supplies, including but not limited to, Arts & Crafts, board games, gifts & prizes, liturgical supplies and library books.
• With the assistance of the Cruise Director, he/she is responsible for assisting in the preparation and cross-checking of reviewing the format and description of the activity portion of The Insider.
• S/he can also expect to be trained in the same regarding Music and Shows input into The Insider. It is the Cruise Director’s ultimate responsibility to prepare the Daily Program, but the Assistant Cruise Director should learn this skill.
• Schedules and supervises members of the Entertainment Team by working closely with the Activity Host & Company Manager to coordinate their daily schedule, ensuring visibility across all guest-facing timeslots and proper balance of IPM coverage, ensuring seamless coverage of programming.
• Oversees the efficiency of the Entertainment Team in their respective duties. Checks for proficiency, punctuality, and effectiveness.
• Acts as liaison between the Cruise Director and onboard Entertainment employees.
• Liaises with the Cruise Director and Entertainment Team when related to Entertainment Team involvement in shows/presentations.
• Provides verbal and written performance feedback to the Cruise Director to support team appraisals and development.
• Coordinates and facilitates the onboarding and handover of new team members, ensuring consistency in departmental expectations and standards.
• Establishes the candidate for relief of this position and trains this individual in all aspects of their responsibilities.
• Responsible for effectively managing the time and attendance of their own and direct reports’ work and rest hours in accord with MLC regulations and company procedures.
• Along with the Cruise Director, s/he should de-greet guests when arriving in port and assist with crowd control and guest flow.
• Under the supervision of the Guest Relations Manager, assists during the Embarkation and Disembarkation procedures.
• Responsible for managing guest flow during tendering, when tender tickets are being distributed. Once the vessel goes to open tender, his or her responsibility is completed. The Marine Department is ultimately responsible for the safety of our guests and the technical operations during tendering.
• Acts as the main point of contact for Guest Entertainers and Enrichment Presenters, overseeing their full onboard experience from embarkation to disembarkation. Ensures cabins are prepared, welcome letters and schedules are provided, rehearsals are supported, and special requirements are arranged. Coordinates and assists with travel details, customs/immigration/visa needs, and billing is paid prior to disembarking. Personally escorts talent on and off the ship.
