Boeing Global Services is searching for a Senior F-18 Avionics Technician Lead willing to work 1st or 2nd shift at Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at NAS JRB New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
This position is eligible for a Stipend payment in addition to salary for eligible candidates.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leads the assembly, disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
- Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
- Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
- Directs troubleshooting of complex hydraulic, avionics, and electrical systems to isolate mechanical, avionics, or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
- Oversees validation/verification testing of systems and components.
- Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).
- Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
- Leads and supervises others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle.
- Provides training and mentors others.
- Works under minimal direction.
Aircraft Electrician:
- Able to perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring.
- Ability and understanding of routing instructions and handling of harnesses.
- Perform efforts associated with sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot avionics and electrical issues.
- Demonstrates the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modification/repair as well as general avionics repair.
- Experienced in the use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance
Minimum of 3 years' of leadership experience
Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
Minimum of 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical publications and/or maintenance manuals
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Fighter Electrical modification experience
- Fighter Avionics modification experience
- Must be able to work outdoors under all types of weather conditions (Humidity/High temperatures) with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes
Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+5 years' related work, Bachelor+2 years' related work, etc.)
