Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Associate Director for Athletics and Recreation, the Coordinator for Evening Events and Facilities oversees nightly operations and events in the Student Recreation Center. This role supervises, trains and assists student staff during the evening hours, helps with coordination of events, and provides patrons with membership and program information. This position assists with marketing and publicity of campus recreation activities and special events.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and interpret applicable principals, federal and/or state laws and regulations in the course of duties.
  • Supervise, plan, schedule, market, and implement weekly evening programs, including intramural sports, club sports, group fitness, aquatic events, and special activities across multiple facilities. Develop and provide training, seminars, and workshops for students and staff. Advise and counsel students, student organizations, and committee members, assisting them in accessing available resources for group use.
  • Oversee the selection, training and supervision of evening programming student staff and student supervisors. Assist with the hiring and training process for all new student leaders and student building managers. Conduct disciplinary action meetings with student leaders according to the department’s Disciplinary Action Plan. Determine outcome of meetings and mentor students to become successful employees.
  • Maintain essential records and files including budget and expenses and disciplinary action reports.
  • Supervise the fiscal affairs in assigned areas of responsibility including preparing and recommending the budget and approving expenditures.
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are properly prepared, safe and secure periodically throughout the night and upon closing. Troubleshoot any problems regarding Rec Center facility software. Address issues and situations concerning problem areas during evening hours. Keep supervisor informed of such events and concerns.               Implement ways to improve problem areas and concerns. Assist student leaders with emergencies. Consult with the Associate Director/Director on a regular basis on evening activities and to resolve any problems
  • Provide insight into potential changes in the policies and procedures of the Student Recreation Center specifically ones regarding Membership Services and student staff procedures.
  • Assist with the set-up and break down of events including A/V equipment. Assist in the marketing and publicity of Campus Recreation activities and events. Develop informative materials and publications.
  • Provide customer service to patrons at Membership Services and throughout the facility
  • Establish liaison and coordinate activities with other staff in fulfilling the needs of the department.
  • Monitor equipment and supply inventories.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and/or college events as assigned.
  • Evaluate the needs of students, staff and faculty, and develop and implement weekly RecNights programs and activities. Oversee Intramural Sports evening events.
  • Maintain email lists for staff contact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two years of professional work experience in campus recreation, student programming, or facility operations with a large, diver
