Position Overview

The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire an administrator to oversee the Bureau of Family Nutrition. This position administers multi- million-dollar programs for support of Bureau activities; directs the Department's administration of federal supplemental food programs including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, Children (WIC). Consults with the Associate Director/Director on the comprehensive integration and coordination of program activities and functions as they relate to other program and divisions; and represents the Department at local, state, and national organizations and task forces.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Chief of the Bureau of Family Nutrition and the State Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Director.

  • Organizes, plans, develops, and evaluates Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC clinical and vendor services including direct service, policies, Vendor Management, Vendor Compliance, Management Information System & Electronic Benefits and banking.  

  • Serves as full line supervisor.

  • Directs, organizes, and develops highly complex research to craft written and/or statistical proposals affecting changes in recommended legislation, existing statutes, and/or administrative rules as it relates Nutrition and Food System related programming, services and other related topics.

  • Consults with the Associate Director/Director on the comprehensive integration and coordination of program activities and functions as they relate to other program and divisions.

  • Represents the Associate Director or other Division of Family and Community Services (DFCS) executive team in internal and external meetings with other bureaus, divisions, grantees, stakeholders, and state and federal government representatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with coursework in a social or human services field.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a state/federal nutrition program.
