Job Description

IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for a Operation Supervisor Engineering at our Ravenswood Power Plant located in Long Island City, NY. The salary range for this role is $145K - $185K annual base salary. The Operation Supervising Engineer position will report to Operations Manager.

Ravenswood Generating Station is a 2,000 MW electric generating station on 28 acres located in Long Island City, Queens, NY along the East River. It consists of three steam turbine plants (1750 MWs), one GE 7FA combined cycle plant (250 MWs), Ravenswood is a component of the New York City generation supply.


Job Summary

The Operations Supervising Engineer is responsible for supervising & training their direct reports.
the monitoring, reporting, data collection and displays of all power generation performance instrumentation.
the performance control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities.
the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation of systems associated with operational performance.
establishing and using well-known procedures; decisions that are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines.

The Operation Supervising Engineer must perform and ensure direct reports work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The Supervising Engineer must effectively communicate information to management and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The Operations Production Supervisor must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.

Job Functions

The Operations Production Supervising Engineer is to ensure the following:
• Perform monitoring of operational data collection instruments and repair all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems.
• Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
• Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
• Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
• Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on Digital Control System, Programmable Logic Controller and SCADA systems, and their input devices.
• Complete other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.
• The Operations Production Team works in cooperation with the operations personnel on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the plant.

The Operations Production Supervising Engineer must provide
• data analysis and reporting of routine evolutions such as startups, shutdowns, max load testing, boiler and turbine air in leakage, etc.
• trend analysis including performance data for troubleshooting, compliance reporting and/or budgeting purposes.
• chemistry program management and reporting the health of the program.
• daily reporting of system performance including heat rate, water consumption, chemistry management, condenser and turbine efficiency, fuel usage/inventory, etc. and the possible causes.
• collected data from multiple sources such as recorders, PI, SCADA, log entries, procedural reviews and production technician rounds.
accurate unit reported status using GADS platform
