Registered Nurse-Hourly

Reviews the patient's medical history, verifies consent, and provides emotional support before the patient goes under anesthesia. As registered nurse who manages the overall operating room environment and advocates for the patient while they are under anesthesia. Opens sterile packaging and passes medications, sutures, and additional equipment to the scrub nurse or surgeon without crossing into the sterile field. Records every detail of the operation in the patient's chart, including team members present, times of procedures, and amounts of medications or anesthetics administered. Oversee the strict counting of surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after the procedure to prevent any items from being left inside the patient. Collects, labels, and properly documents any tissue or fluid samples before transferring them to the laboratory for analysis. Assists the anesthesia provider in stabilizing the patient and transferring them to the PACU.
