Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Valparaiso, IN

Shift: Must be available for any shift

Pay: $28.02/hr

 

Job Overview:

Under minimal supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the mechanic is responsible for being highly proficient in the independent assessment, repair, and preventative maintenance work on all equipment within the facility.

 

Job Duties:

Areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to:

  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Follows all plant and OSHA safety policies and procedures, reporting all near misses and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Capable of the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plant equipment, including new equipment installations and special project work.
  • Performs safely and adequately under stress when confronted with hazardous, critical, or urgent situations.
  • Willing and capable of working with, directing, and imparting knowledge to similar and lower-level personnel in the engineering trades group including contract maintenance personnel.
  • Cleans work area and returns all parts, tools, welding rods, etc. to the shop at the completion of job or shift if the job is not completed.
  • Capable of safely using and understanding the use of all tools required in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Exercises sound judgment and safely apply learned principles to solve problems. Capable of interpreting complex technical manuals, specifications, schematics, layout drawings and blueprints as required to complete repairs or installations.
  • Performs all required shop math and calculations necessary to complete required tasks.
  • Communicates with the Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, and other personnel, such as the Production Supervisor off-shift and weekends, as required, regarding the status/progress of repairs, estimated time of completion, etc.
  • Reports to and takes direction from the off-shift and weekend Production Supervisor for all maintenance functions required to keep the plant operating.
  • Clearly, accurately, and concisely documents all activities, needs and status of repairs in the shift report. This includes call-ins, or the repair status of work completed by all crafts during holidays where the outside contractors are working.
