Job Description

As the Software Engineering Manager for Embedded Systems at Elbit America, you will provide functional engineering leadership and management to a talented team of embedded software developers working on sensor-based solutions.

This position is a technical management position that takes software engineering concepts/visions/best practices and helps lead the department to drive robust solutions across the business unit.

      What you will do

• Collaborate cross-functionally, with other engineering and business development leaders and teams to drive execution
• Lead a team of software developers to provide embedded Software to meet the demands of the Warfighter Business Unit 
• Lead the effort for all Bids and Proposals (B&P) using parametric estimation tools and/or historical estimating
• Aptitude for continuous improvement, identifying and implementing industry standard software best practices, methods, and tools
• Effectively and efficiently engages in staff planning that helps to ensure the department is appropriately staffed to accomplish both its short-term needs and its long-term objectives
• Lead the effort in recruiting and hiring of additional staff
• Lead effort in resolving technical, operational, and team related issues
• Provide career guidance and expertise to your department as well as handle performance management duties
• Other duties as assigned by the Software Engineering Director

Qualifications

Required qualifications

• BS in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years’ experience in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) of Embedded Systems based on Linux and/or RTOS
• Experience leading/developing on microprocessors and microcontrollers (e.g. ARM, SoCs, etc)
• 3+ years of demonstrated software engineering leadership/management
• Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments
• Experience with CI/CD workflows, methods and tools such as Gitlabs, Artifactory, Jenkins, Jira, etc.
• Ability to understand big picture and to energize the team
• MUST have the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance
• Ability to travel up to 10%
• Fully skilled in MS programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in related field
• Active DoD SECRET clearance
• Experience with DO-178/DO-254 DAL solutions is a plus
• Knowledge of the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) based solutions such as FACE or GCIA is considered a plus
• Prior experience developing sensor-based solutions
• Demonstrated experience with B&P
• Familiar with Microservices based architecture involving Docker containers, Kubernetes and other DevOps & CI/CD related open source software packages
• Demonstrated knowledge/experience with Ethernet networking concepts such as TCP/IP
