Position Summary: The Chief Philanthropy Officer is responsible for oversight of all aspects of HELP Foundation’s development program and delivers on short-term annual operating revenue as well as long-term revenue objectives by strengthening and growing donor relations through identification, cultivation, and stewardship. The Chief Philanthropy Officer also manages all responsibilities related to marketing and communication for HELP Foundation.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and assures implementation of strategies to secure increasing levels of philanthropic support from corporate, foundation, government and individual sources and grows the donor base to support the Agency.
- Creates and implements a donor relationship program including prospect identification, research, solicitation, recognition, and long-term stewardship.
- Develops and sustains strong relationships with donors and members of the community through personal outreach, in-person visits, site-visits, and other methods as appropriate.
- Actively engages with the Leadership Team in the development of a long-term vision and strategic plan direction.
- Defines and prioritizes short and long-term fundraising goals with the President & CEO. Achieves both short-term and long-term fundraising goals.
- Plans, leads, and successfully achieves a comprehensive capital campaign.
- Plans, leads and oversees all HELP annual fundraising events.
- Ensures that philanthropy and fund development are carried out in keeping with the Agency’s values, mission, vision, and plans.
- Acts as a staff liaison for the Development Committee working in partnership with the President & CEO and Board Committee Chair to determine accountabilities and projects for board members, fundraising volunteers and organization of cooperative community events.
- Works with the President & CEO and the Chief Financial Officer to establish annual operating goals, the departmental operating budget and results reporting.
- Supervises Development staff and oversees departmental policies and procedures.
- Assures timely identification, writing, and submission of corporate, foundation, and government proposals and grants and solicitation materials.
- Keeps the Chief Executive Officer informed on the condition of the Agency’s fund development program and all-important factors causing influence.
- Responsible for the effective management, creation and development of print and online advertising and branding, email marketing, web site management and content development, press releases, bylined articles, Agency videos, social media and marketing collateral, RFP review and development, marketing budget development and cost tracking as well as assist in the preparation of presentations.
- Serves as the primary crisis communications contact for the Agency.
- Collaborate cross functionally with peers to maximize positive outcomes for the Agency.
- Works under the direction of the President & CEO to make sure the agency maintains a competitive edge as a premier provider of DD Services
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of a 4-year degree in a relevant field of study and 7 years of experience in Business, Development, Marketing & Communications and people management or related field; Master’s preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising and capital campaign experience preferred
- Extensive donor data management software experience (Raiser’s Edge is preferred)
- An accomplished professional with superior communication, leadership, development and management skills as well as the desire and energy to be a leader in at an agency that is adamant about maintaining a reputation of excellence
- Proven experience providing strategic leadership, creating, and executing fundraising strategies that yield optimal gains
