About the role

Responsibilities

Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions’ to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering, technical, logistics, and obsolescence support to U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, and Foreign Military Sales ships and vessels related to the following systems and equipment: Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Combat Support Systems for U.S. Navy Surface Ships – both in-service and new construction. and equipment support.

 

The Mechanical Engineer position will design, evaluate, plan, test and operate mechanical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses. The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Creating mechanical designs and drawings
  • Writing precise calculations
  • Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
  • Re-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
  • Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
  • Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or Electrical Engineering and 1 year of professional experience in engineering. 
  • US Citizen with an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or the ability to obtain one
  • Familiarity with equipment design principles
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with detailed specifications under configuration management
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors
  • Shipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plus
  • Experience should include Navy Ship Steam and Auxiliary systems including mechanical/electrical system design, repair, installation, modification, operation, maintenance and testing of Navy equipment or systems. Shipboard experience Navy or Maritime is a plus
  • Familiarity military specifications for technical design
  • Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts
  • Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materials
