Supervisor, Surgical Technician FT Days

Overview

 

JOB SUMMARY:  This supervisor Surgical Technologist demonstrates proficient level of skills and techniques in all specialties including open heart and robotic procedures under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services or her/his designee.  The primary responsibility is for the supervising the surgical technicians performance and training new surgical technicians to the competent level in all specialty procedures.  Responsible for assuring all equipment and instruments are operational, and communicates with surgeons for any education or training needs for the surgical technicians, and train them to the competent level.  Ensures adequacy and organization of equipment, supplies and instruments by coordinating with new product inservice as well.  Serves as a role model to other staff by demonstrating positive guest relations, effective communication skills, excellent work ethics, and superior leadership skills.  Possesses knowledge of aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and correct technology used to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.  Works weekends and on call at the request of the Director or to validate new technician’s competency.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

• High school graduate.

• Surgical Technology School graduate diploma.

• Current BCLS Card (AHA)

• Current National Surgical Technologist Certificate.

• Four years of acute hospital operating room surgical technician experience.
