Senior Internal Auditor

This role is an office hybrid and the ideal candidate would reside in Bardstown or Louisville.

What the Role Is

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for performing financial, compliance, and operational audits for Heaven Hill and its subsidiaries, to identify risks and controls that may have an impact on the integrity of reported financial information or the achievement of business objectives.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

• Remain current with industry compliance regulations, corporate practices, and existing internal controls
• Collaborate internally with department leads to determine audit scope, develop audit plans, and related testing procedures that would provide transparency to practices within the organization
• Perform audit testing on specified areas to identify issues and report dimensions of risk
• Validate and document remediation issues and improvement opportunities, as well as work together with process owners to develop practical recommendations for process changes
• Identify key processes and systems where risk exists and evaluate if controls can be strengthened
• Interview various levels of the business, including executive leadership, to evaluate processes and organizational systems
• Maintain electronic work papers and evidence to support findings and recommendations
• Provide quality audit reports with practical suggestions
• Advanced knowledge of internal controls across various business cycles
• Report work status and audit results to executive leadership and applicable recommendations
• Understand IT systems and business performance metrics which are relied upon to provide information and are the basis for decisions
• Collaborate with Director of Risk Management to align on risks and priorities

Who You Are…

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an auditor in public accounting or global organization
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• Proven leadership with experience working with all levels within the company as well as external audit team
• Strong analytic skills, including knowledge of accounting principles
• Work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Must possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Ability to think ahead with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to gather and analyze large quantities of data using various tools
• Ability to work through issues/problems and execute on deliverables
• Previous experience in the spirits industry

Valued but not required skills and experience:

• Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
