General Description:

You will be working closely with the leaders in the hospitality group at Chartwells Higher-Education, developing skills and competencies to understand what is needed to be successful in the world of research and development. You will gain valuable experience in the culinary arts field including but not limited to: learning web-based recipe systems from a remote platform, ability to read and follow a standard recipe, food safety procedures, menu planning and development, implementation of innovation and teambuilding skills. This internship involves experience working directly with our national Research and Development Chef and Corporate Dietitian which will guide you to set the stage for your personal success in a culinary career.

Job Responsibilities (May include any or all):

• Knowledge of operational standards

• Safety: HAACP controls, FDA requirements, Food Handling Procedures

• Remote data entry and project completion

• Bring innovation into services

• Understanding Guest Facing and POS Communications

• Culinary Financials and Food Cost

• Receiving, Storage, Inventory Knowledge

• Contributing to associate learning and development

• Mindful of end-user training and language

• Purchasing, Production, and Execution of menu items

• Understanding of Purchasing Playbook and Preferred MOG Items

• Testing and Operational support of Recipes

• Willingness to Explore Specialty Diets: allergens, religious, plant-forward.

• Understanding the safe operation of equipment.

• Together with the culinary team, working to maintain the dining standards

• Allergen Training Completion and Knowledge

• Recipe Writing Training Completion

• Food presentation and merchandising

• Support Nutritional and Wellness Campaigns
