In this role, as an Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology (AMRT) Machining and Technologies Engineer you will be responsible for developing & industrializing machining processes, technologies, and equipment, on a variety of industrial gas turbine components to deliver value to our global GE Vernova business partners. You will also coordinate with global and cross-functional teams to drive new machining processes & technologies in the Gas Power supply chain for new and serviced hardware. This role will affect short-term and long-term business goals.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

• Lead the development and global industrialization of new special processes and technologies that will be utilized in multiple global service centers.

• Generate, test and implement new CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software for a variety of CNC machine types & controls.

• Utilize Vericut or NX simulations to verify new programs prior to transferring to a global shop.

• Ability to understand, generate and validate probing routines

• Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery

• Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment to meet business priorities

• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks

• Recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements.

• Deliver processes to meet service programs, repair & new unit fulfillment, safety and NPI initiatives.

• Maintain schedules for project deliverables & communicate progress to stakeholders.

• Design and build/procure necessary fixtures & tools to finish projects on time and within budget.

• Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation.

• Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment.

• Maintain lab machine health and work area cleanliness/organization (5S)

• Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation.

• Mentor and train less experienced personnel within the organization.

• Utilize lean-manufacturing values for daily work and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs, and increase capacity

• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.

Required  Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with 3 years of special process development experience {OR} an associates degree and/or equivalent knowledge and experience with a minimum of 5 years of special process development experience.

• 3-5 years of CAD/CAM skills and proven ability to translate 3D models into tool movement and machine movement that achieves design goals

 

Eligibility Requirements:

• Ability to stand or walk for up to 6 hours per day

• Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and/or international shops; 15-20%

Desired Characteristics:

• Prior experience with machine programming, setting up equipment and machining operations such as milling, grinding, fast hole EDM, sinker EDM and/or laser drilling experience.

• Knowledge of special processes, such as brazing, welding, chemical cleaning, coating, automation, inspection and tooling design and manufacturing

• Strong understanding of G & M-codes along w/ conversational programming

• Experience creating & validating multi-axis programs

• Experience programming hole drilling, sinker and wire EDMs

• Experience in manufacturing and/or component repair for Industrial gas turbine, steam turbines, generators, or Aero engines
