Job Description Summary
As the AVP, Advanced Analytic Enablement, you’ll be accountable for researching standardized and governed modeling capabilities across of broad spectrum of AI/ML techniques. You’ll be the subject matter expert of statistical methods, mathematics, and AI/ML algorithms such as General Linear Models, Tree-Based methods, Deep Learning methods, and general optimization methods. Key Responsibilities:
Leads a team of Analytic Scientists which are accountable to develop advanced statistical methods and standards for use across the broader community.
Responsible for leading the strategic planning, thought leadership & execution of forward thinking, high impact predictive analytic approaches that will affect and impact strategic initiatives and operational processes within Nationwide’s customer base, distribution partnerships, and business operations.
Establishes standards and trains team on methods such as dimensionality reduction, time series and econometrics, Bayesian methodology, model selection including rigorous hyperparameter tuning, and grid search, and model performance estimation including.
Provides expert recommendations on model evaluation metrics, model calibration, and cost-based view of model errors (Type 1 and Type 2).
Leads the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO) in the research of model tuning and diagnostics capabilities including model prediction interpretability (including LIME, Shapley Values/SHAP, etc).
Continues advancing Nationwide’s capabilities in methods for modeling unstructured data and acts as lead researcher for next generation capabilities including advanced NLP methods, Generative AI methods, time series methods (including traditional forecasting methodology as well as processing of signal/audio-related series), and image and video analysis.
Fosters enterprise test and learn approaches to drive efficiencies and quicker learning/adoption.
Oversees associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning. Supports the recruitment and development of talent. Creates an environment that promotes high performance and engagement.
May Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, Chief Advanced Analytics Officer. Leads a team of 4 direct reports and approximately 10-15 indirect reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field highly preferred, in areas such as Statistics, Computer Science, Decision Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering. Graduate degree (MBA, MS) strongly preferred.
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years of progressive management and leadership experience in advanced analytics, modeling, customer information systems, and data warehousing environments. A minimum 5 years of people leadership background is preferred.
