Job Overview
The Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care and management to patients diagnosed with or at risk for infectious diseases. This role includes comprehensive patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, education, and follow-up care under established clinical protocols and in collaboration with supervising physicians. The NP will support high-quality patient care in outpatient, inpatient, and telehealth settings while adhering to established regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations focused on infectious disease conditions.
Develop and implement treatment plans in coordination with supervising infectious disease physicians.
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state and organizational guidelines.
Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic procedures related to infectious disease.
Manage patient care related to conditions such as HIV, Hepatitis, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, postoperative infections, antimicrobial-resistant infections, and travel-related illnesses.
Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on patient response and clinical results.
Provide patient education regarding disease prevention, medication adherence, and lifestyle modification.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, including physicians, nursing staff, case managers, infection prevention, and pharmacy.
Document all patient encounters and medical decisions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) timely and accurately.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives, clinical meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Maintain strict compliance with infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and clinical best practices.
Support clinical research or public health initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) required.
Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
National Board Certification as an Adult NP, Family NP, or Acute Care NP (preferred).
DEA license required or eligible.
Infectious Disease certification or experience preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1–2 years of clinical NP experience (Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, or related specialty preferred).
Experience with chronic infectious disease management and antimicrobial stewardship highly valued.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position, and you will be responsible for managing your own taxes and benefits.
