Job Summary: 

 

The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects for Shell Mobility and Convenience (SMC) gasoline stations and convenience retail stores. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple complex projects across diverse geographies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Manage end-to-end construction projects including new builds, remodels, and site upgrades. This role will primarily be focused on the most complex builds involving ground up New-To-Industry (NTI) or Knockdown-Rebuild (KDR) complete site construction.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (real estate, operations, engineering, procurement) and external partners (contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies).
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project budgets and timelines; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects meet regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and company specifications.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates to the Director of Construction and executive leadership; maintain accurate documentation and project records.
  • Team Development: Mentor junior project managers and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in construction project management, with at least 3 years in the retail fuel or convenience store sector.
  • Strong understanding of fuel system installations, environmental compliance, and permitting processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different regions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of American Petroleum Institute (API) recommended practice 1646
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project and Procore).

 

Education and Continuous Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; PMP certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift 25-50lbs or more.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites 50-75% of the time.
