Job Summary
We are seeking a resourceful accountant that geeks out with technical US GAAP accounting, knows how to run “a tight ship” at mid-sized companies, is passionate about technology, is a patient mentor, and is quick to roll up their sleeves and explore data. This person will be the primary accountant, maintaining financial reporting, ledgers, and records, ensuring controls and compliance, and overseeing assets and debts. The Controller will reporting to the VP of Finance and collaboration with company management, accountants in New York and Israel, and finance and business intelligence analysts. Success in this position requires driving operational excellence by implementing best practices, scalable automation, system integrations, and administrative policies and procedures. Requirements
What you’ll do:
- Provide timely and complete internal and external financial reports. Provide weekly cash and profit flash reports. Provide other analysis as needed, such as for revenue recognition, capital investments, lease management, contract negotiations, and vendor management.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, maintain current audit schedules, and provide a variety of variance, metric, and covenant reporting.
- Oversee technical procedures, including AR, AP, procurement, travel and expenses, payroll, incentive compensation, revenue deferral/recognition, expense accruals, asset depreciation/amortization, investments, managerial reserves/estimates, lease/debt amortization, intercompany, multi-currency/consolidation, and equity.
- Maintain an effective financial and internal controls system, segregation of duties, and delegation of authority.
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax preparers, and financial advisors to ensure accurate and timely reports without any misrepresentations or weaknesses.
- Collaborate with FP&A on budget creation, variance analysis, headcount reporting, payroll analysis, and forecast updates.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international government reporting, tax filings/payments, registrations, and licensing requirements.
- Support external due diligence requests and manage internal due diligence processes for acquisitions, dispositions, and other transactions.
What you’ll need:
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, including previous Controller and management experience at medium-sized companies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar quantitative field of study.
- Advanced technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP, especially related to revenue and software development recognition.
- Public accounting, or equivalent experience, with external audits and SOX compliance.
- Advanced accounting systems and Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, income, sales, etc. tax filings, and payments.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills to work effectively at all levels and across concurrent projects and workstreams.
- *You must be able to commute to New York, NY metropolitan area for in-office collaboration weekly
Nice to Have
- Experience with PCAOB Audit standards/requirements and COSO internal control framework, and other regulatory requirements.
- CPA and/or Master's Degree or actively pursuing.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and data analysis and visualization software.
- Strong business acumen, natural curiosity, and a growth mindset.
