Responsibilities
- Experience must encompass planning, design, and construction management of a variety of marine and waterfront structures in the municipal and coastal port markets, ferry landings and ferry operations facilities, flood control structures, hydraulic structures such as dams and spillways, and other heavy civil structures for both public and private clients. Experience with water and wastewater projects and various vertical construction projects (e.g., buildings, parking structures and ancillary structures) is desired but not required.
- Experience must encompass performance of site visits for data collection, measurements, verifications, visual observations, forensic evaluations and tactile investigations.
- Requires the ability to manage projects from start to finish and the ability to interface with clients and work independently.
- Will be developing basis of design narratives, technical reports, design criteria, design calculations, conceptual designs and schematic, design development and construction documents including technical specifications, field testing requirements and laboratory testing requirements.
- Prepare opinion of probable construction cost estimates.
- Develop and achieve project scopes, budgets, and schedules for projects.
- Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance; perform quality control reviews
- Manage the preparation of various reports, presentations, budgets, specifications, plans, construction schedules and permits for projects.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate the preparation of documents, resources or activities for multiple major projects or be responsible for an entire work program.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships, acquire leads, positions for projects, knowledgeable of the client’s decision-making processes.
- Writes technical papers for publication
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
- Define project success criteria and milestones and effectively communicate throughout the project life cycle.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors.
- Ensures production work meets client quality expectations and adheres to current industry standards.
- Schedule and track project milestones and deliverables
- Ensure that established procedures for conducting the work, documentation, project and client management are followed
- Conduct project lessons learned and create a recommendation report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
- Develop teaming arrangements, lead proposal preparation, and participate in interviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited University. (Master’s degree is highly preferred)
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas (Texas PE)
- 10 years or more experience with the analysis and design of various structures including but not limited to Concrete and Steel structures
- Thorough knowledge, experience and understanding of various building codes & specifications or various AASHTO technical standards & guidelines for bridges & structures; Experience with both (building codes and AASHTO publications) is desired but experience with at least one is required
- Thorough knowledge, experience and understanding of Code-referenced standards, such as ASCE 7 and ASCE 24
- Proficiency in at least one of the following engineering software: STAAD, RISA 3D & RAM Structural System
- Finite Element Modeling and Result Interpretation capability is desired, but not required
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD & Revit (Building Information Modeling)
- Interpretation of the results of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Destructive Testing (DT) is desired but not required
- Repair and retrofit design for existing structures
- Creative problem-solving ability
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a multi-dis
