Ad Hoc is looking for a Senior Capture Manager (Lead Role)

Primary Responsibilities: 

The Senior Manager of Capture is a player/coach role, responsible for leading capture on individual opportunities, leading the capture process and approach of the company, and managing and leading a team of Capture professionals. The Senior Manager of Capture will build, train and lead a Capture Team capable of executing all aspects of the Capture Process, and be fully responsible for all capture activities from Gate 1 through contract award. You will also be responsible for managing relationships within the organization. A Senior Manager of Capture is a people manager, leader, and mentor that effectively manages team members in support of department success. You will serve as a subject matter expert that is able to successfully lead through direct reports and effectively communicate and execute against department and organizational objectives. In this role, a Senior Manager of Capture will actively partner with peers to meet defined deadlines. The Senior Capture Manager must exhibit strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate among varying teams and departments to support adherence to standard processes and procedures. Primary expectations of a Senior Manager of Capture include:

  • Exhibits influential skills to lead capture teams and individual opportunity capture management activities
  • Ensures alignment of capture activities with the broader Growth strategy of the company
  • Communicates clearly with Senior Executives within the company on the status of capture strategies, to include activities, risks, blockers, and support needed to continue to best position Ad Hoc for a win
  • Cultivate the capture management practice at Ad Hoc
  • Builds a successful capture team to execute on market strategy
  • Develops capture strategies that align with target agencies
  • Develops, manages, and executes comprehensive and thorough capture plans following Shipley Capture Management best practices
  • Works within the account team to shape acquisition strategies; develops client and industry call plans; leads competitive intelligence development; facilitates sessions to define win themes and key differentiators; and provides input for effective price to win analysis
  • Develops Win Strategies that incorporate information regarding the customer, competitors and Ad Hoc’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Creates a sound business case and value proposition based on customer requirements.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, solution architects, and program and project managers to generate solutions that address client needs and expectations
  • Researches, identifies, meets, and negotiates teaming agreements with partners (with support and input from the Business Unit leadership team)
  • Leads gate reviews, participates in technical, management, and pricing strategy development and reviews, and evaluates proposal readiness activities to ensure a seamless transition to proposal management operations
  • Coordinates capture efforts with proposal teams, pricing, human resources, contracting and other company organizations
  • Communicates resource requirements and needs in support of developing a comprehensive staffing plan
  • Responsible for performance management, timecard reviews, PTO management and team development, in absence of senior leadership

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience
    • Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education
  • Understanding of how to build and lead successful capture teams
  • Demonstrated experience winning prime, full and open contracts in the Federal Civilian market
  • Success in winning captures of opportunities ranging from small to GWAC/IDIQ
  • Understanding of all contract types including FFP, T&M, cost-plus, etc.
  • Experience with multi-award contract vehicles and price-to-win strategies
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and remote environment, with both internal and external stakeholders
  • 2 years of people management/mentoring experience


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Capture Management experience with Federal civilian agencies, preferably including Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and/or other Federal Civilian agencies.
