About the role

Red Hat's Public Sector Customer Success team is seeking a Technical Account Manager (TAM) with expertise in OpenShift Virtualization. In this role, you will be a strategic partner and trusted advisor to our key customers, ensuring they derive maximum value from their Red Hat technologies. You will serve as their primary technical advocate, deeply understanding their IT infrastructure and business objectives to provide proactive, tailored guidance. Your mission is to build lasting loyalty by acting as their champion within Red Hat, facilitating multi-vendor collaboration, and helping them navigate the evolving industry landscape.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as a Strategic Advisor: Act as a trusted partner for enterprise customers, guiding them in the design, implementation, and optimization of Red Hat OpenShift, with a specific focus on OpenShift Virtualization.

  • Guide Infrastructure Modernization: Architect and lead customers through the migration of traditional virtual machine (VM) workloads from platforms like VMware vSphere or Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) to a unified container and VM platform.

  • Proactive Technical Leadership: Proactively identify and prevent complex issues by performing deep technical reviews of customer environments, sharing knowledge, and recommending best practices for both containerized and virtualized workloads.

  • Be the Customer's Champion: Become a dedicated customer advocate within Red Hat by deeply understanding their complete technical landscape, from hardware and storage to strategic business goals.

  • Act as a Technical Bridge: Collaborate effectively with Red Hat's engineering, product management, and technical support teams to champion customer needs, drive resolutions, and provide real-world feedback.

  • Deliver Hands-On Expertise: Provide direct, hands-on support as needed to resolve challenging technical issues and demonstrate the capabilities of the platform.

  • Build Lasting Relationships: Grow and maintain customer relationships by delivering attentive, high-touch, and value-driven support.

  • Travel to regional customer sites as needed and agreed upon.

What You Will Bring

  • Deep OpenShift & Kubernetes Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including cluster administration, container orchestration, build strategies, and container registries.

  • Enterprise Virtualization Experience: Proven experience with traditional enterprise virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi), Red Hat Virtualization (RHV), or other KVM-based solutions.

  • Virtualization Fundamentals: Solid understanding of core virtualization concepts including hypervisors, live migration (e.g., vMotion), high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR).

  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Practical knowledge of underlying infrastructure components for both containers and VMs, including advanced networking (VLANs, bonding, bridging) and enterprise storage (NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel).

  • Automation Skills: Experience with IT automation tools, particularly Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to manage multiple complex issues and projects with shifting priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Red Hat Certified: At a minimum, must have a current Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RCHSA) certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire)

Considered a Plus

  • Experience with the KubeVirt project.

  • Experience using the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) or similar VM migration tools.

  • Familiarity with software-defined storage solutions like Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) or Ceph.

  • Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Tekton, ArgoCD).

  • Red Hat certifications (RHCE, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration).
