Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest, most complex software ever shipped in a safety-critical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime. The In-Vehicle Software QA team at Zoox has a critical set of responsibilities, from AI validation to internal tools test automation. 
As a Software Development Engineer in Test on our team, you will take a leadership role in driving forward technical advancements in test frameworks and tools. You will implement and develop test automation frameworks, implement new solutions to technical test problems, and build novel tools for our teams to utilize. You will be a force multiplier by mentoring other test engineers and growing their test design and coding capabilities.

In this role, you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain the framework that teams across Zoox will use for integration and subsystem testing 
• Design, build, and maintain simulation tools that will be used by other teams at Zoox
• Collaborate with other QA colleagues and participate in cross-team projects to maintain and improve Zoox cross-functional validation workflows 
• Write automation tests and regularly execute manual tests on Zoox's integrated tooling systems
• Support the users of our tools and framework while continuously refining those systems to enhance overall efficiency

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test with proven skills in writing automation frameworks from scratch
• Experience building automated mobile app tests using Appium, Espresso, or similar frameworks and automated API tests using PyTest, RestAssured, or similar tools
• Strong proficiency with C++ or Python and experience with tools like version control systems like Git, CI/CD pipelines
• A self-starter who is capable of defining and implementing new tools and processes from start to finish

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience in developing and maintaining simulation tools for testing purposes
• Experience in HIL (Hardware In-the Loop) test automation
• Proficiency in C++ unit test framework

CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $211,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
