BWXT is currently seeking a CMS Technician for our team in Mount Vernon, Indiana!
The CMS technician will perform CMS inspections with Laser Tracker and/or FARO ARM, review processing for operation(s) to be performed, and review contract drawing and procedure requirements for operation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe work area; comply with safety procedures, and equipment operating rules.
- Conduct on-site inspections in various manufacturing environments.
- Plan and prepare operation requirements prior to performing the inspection.
- Coordinate physical set-up of component.
- Physically track a laser beam to a parts surface while the laser beam is being reflected from a hand held retro-reflector target. Also, physically track a laser beam while negotiating a large component and obstacles in the immediate area of the part.
- Measure specific geometries of a component without breaking the laser beam between the tracker head and hand held retro-reflector.
- Interpret drawings, CAD data, GD&T requirements and inspection plans in order to prepare necessary inspection templates, programs, and documentation. Perform calibrations and compensations of CMS measuring equipment.
- Determine and select the proper measurement methodology and equipment for industrial measurement applications.
- Develop the programs for the inspection probe which will be used for final inspections, as well as, in process inspections.
- Convey inspection results to shop supervision, engineers, peers, and customer representatives.
- Identify and report problems of complex electronic equipment.
- Maintain quality documents and records associated with CMS equipment.
- Perform data entry into the CMS program via an integrated voice recognition system.
- Provide on-site support at other BWXT-NED facilities as necessary.
Job qualifications
High school equivalency with at least four years of demonstrated history performing the following tasks OR a two-year technical certification with at least two years of demonstrated history in a tight tolerance manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD as related to data analysis and nominal comparison models.
- Prior experience performing inspections with Laser Tracker and/or FARO ARM preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary for validation/verification of dimensional relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate; contribute to technical teams; work independently; and accurately document and maintain records is required.
- Have thorough understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
