JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mission Support Bureau manages New Jersey’s statewide domestic extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, targeted violence, and hostile foreign intelligence threat intake and coordination process and maintains critical relationships with New Jersey’s public and private-sector partners.
The Counter-Threat Outreach Specialist will support the County Counter-Threat Coordinator (CTC) and Municipal Counter-Threat Coordinator (MCTC) programs by managing New Jersey's statewide suspicious activity reporting (SAR) and threat intake systems. This position plays a critical role in building and maintaining critical partnerships with New Jersey's law enforcement, faith-based, military, public and private-sector stakeholders.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in supporting, managing and coordinating the CTC and MCTC programs statewide.
- Travel throughout assigned region to conduct outreach and regularly engage with the 21 county CTCs and 500+ municipal CTCs on homeland security-related issues, including threats, cybersecurity, and counterintelligence.
- Conduct briefings and training sessions on Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) and Threat Screening Center (TSC) procedures; provide special event briefings and participate in speaking engagements as needed.
- Coordinate the timely dissemination of relevant trainings, threat briefs, and program updates to CTC/MCTC programs; identify and recommend new initiatives to enhance program capabilities.
- Maintain current distribution lists and ensure effective communication of products and messages to CTC/MCTC coordinators.
- Conduct research from diverse sources, including media reports and sensitive documents, to support program objectives.
- Manage and update current information in the NJOHSP Database; increase NJOHSP's customer base by seeking new partners for our contact database.
- Work closely with NJOHSP 's Intelligence and Operations Division personnel on the oversight of SAR collection and reporting process.
This position requires schedule flexibility. The selected candidate will be assigned to either the northern or southern region of New Jersey and must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and meetings within the assigned region. Administrative responsibilities will be performed during standard business hours. The position requires reporting to the office at least one (1) day per week. Statewide travel is required, and the selected candidate will be eligible to use the office pool car for business travel with a valid driver's license.
