We are currently seeking a Field Operations Manager to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for supporting and ensuring operational excellence within the branch. This includes but is not limited to efficiency in new job estimates, new job start-ups, maintaining existing larger jobs, effective crew utilization, and growing professionalism within the crew.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Landscape Architecture or Horticulture preferred
Experience
- At least 5 years related work experience
License or Certification
- As required by state and federal law
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state where employed
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) or ability to obtain within 1 year
Specialized Skills
- Strong relationship building and customer relations skills
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Experience working the commercial property managers a plus
- Effective oral and written communication
- Ability to operate commercial landscape equipment and tools
- Have a working understanding of irrigation repairs and familiarity with irrigation controller monitoring and adjusting
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform well under deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and flexible
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook’
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule format
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
- Ability to speak effectively before employees and clients
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Identify and evaluate maintenance improvement opportunities within each job and site.
- Provide accurate, by scope, task hours and other recommendations for new job estimates, specific by site.
- Create plans that are tailor-made for the site we are bidding on, including helping branch managers with operational items that may be overlooked
- Effectively communicate with the customer to help visualize the operations plans prior to the actual start date and maintain customer retention including 30-60-90 day plans to ensure original promises are met by their deadlines.
- Build and manage a heat-crew for the branch. The heat-crew will handle non-routine tasks of contracts including new job start-ups, underperforming properties, leaf management seasons, and unexpected events.
- Work closely with the Branch Manager to review underperforming larger properties to lay out an initial plan in identifying areas of improvement and adjust accordingly.
- Participate during branch operation meeting discussions to reduce and manage overtime in job sites.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, including fostering development and professionalism in Maintenance Foreman.
- Bridge a relationship between prior/potential employees with Area Managers by sourcing candidates for the new season.
- Support overall new customer retention goal of 100% within the first year.
- Support existing customer retention goal above 92%.
- Support key foremen and field employees’ retention goals.
- Improve gross margin percentage of existing jobs.
- Other duties as assigned.
