Once fully operational, Golden Pass LNG will rank as the second largest consumer of natural gas in the United States and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per year.
Job Summary / Purpose
The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing daily commercial activity related to Golden Pass LNG’s long-term LNG sales, marine and terminal use contracts. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing GP Marine contracts
- Managing GP Marine commercial transactions, LNG interface to Marine operations
- Supporting implementing of GPLNG’s Supply and Purchase Agreements
- Developing and maintaining an integrated shipping schedule for LNG deliveries and receipts
- Communicating with long-term LNG customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations under LNG agreements
- Updating scheduling and transaction details in IT business systems
- Preparing detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders
The role requires an individual with good business sense, the ability to analyze and interpret complex commercial agreements, strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively cross functionally within the organization and externally, and strong analytical capabilities. This role will rotate “on-call” for after-hours tasks which must be complete and are time sensitive.
Essential Duties and Functions
The candidate has detailed knowledge of marine operations, contract management and customer relationship management. This position is expected to have strong business acumen and an ability to quickly understand and evaluate information in a dynamic environment. A candidate must be a quick learner of contract language and key provisions in LNG Sales & Purchase Agreements as well as Marine contracts and supporting documentation. Although not essential, familiarity with LNG trading, marine shipping, and commercial optimization is a plus. Engineering, military or some other detail-oriented experience is also preferred. Above all, detail oriented with a strong business aptitude is required.
1. Manage GP Marine commercial structure.
- Manage contracts, notices and transactions under the Lease Agreement and Services Agreement
- Manage contracts, notices and transactions under the Time Charter Party
- Manage contracts, notices and transactions under the Fuel Services Agreement
- Manage contracts, notices and transactions under Surveyor Agreements
- Manage contracts, notices and transactions under the Tug Cost Sharing Agreements
2. Coordinate and oversee the commercial marine transactions. These include managing the Pre-Arrival Checklist – which is all vessel activity from Notice of Departure from the previous port to Notice of Arrival at GPLNG anchor. Activities include coordinating with the Buyer’s Marine team, the GPLNG Marine team, the LNG Vessel’s marine agent.
- Check all vessel ETA Notices
- Verify each vessel’s marine vetting & qualification
- Verify each vessel PLA/TSA signed
- Tug nomination for each loading operations
- Surveyor nomination for each loading operation
- DI received & distributed internally for each vessel
- Confirm Port Call Fee in Documentary Instructions
- Update Port Call Fee in Endur (for invoice)
- Pre-Arrival AES Filing
- Confirm each vessel’s berthing priority in ship queue
3. Coordinate closeout of commercial marine transactions. Activities include coordinating with Buyer’s Marine Agent, GPLNG Marine and GPLNG Finance:
- Calculate and coordinate with Finance for demurrage & excess berth occupancy charges
- Verify surveyor invoice
- Support Commercial LNG Directors for Export Tug Cost Sharing Agreement:
- Manage Actual Cost in Endur for Settlements
