Position Summary
The Sr. Payments & Operations Specialist is responsible for providing regular oversight of all the operational functions performed by Payments & Operations to decrease errors, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with all Payments & Operations procedures. The Sr. Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert for all operational functions of the department, backs up the Specialist as needed, and acts as a resolution resource for member and teammate escalations. They will work closely with other departments and the Payments & Operations Leadership team to ensure all department functions operate effectively and efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as assigned.
- Assists the Payment and Operations Manager with overseeing day-to-day operations and workload of the Payment & Operations Specialists to ensure processing timeframes, adherence to Regulations, and member needs are met
- Performs IRS Correspondence and Legal document processing
- Ensures all deposit and loan charge-offs are processed in accordance with our policy
- Reconciles applicable General Ledger accounts associated with day-to-day processing and assist with identifying reconciliation outages
- Performs monthly tracking for operational processes
- With advanced working knowledge of Credit Union procedures, products, and services, acts as a resource for Payments & Operations teammates; provides recommendation/insight for various processes and provides exceptional member service by responding to inquiries in a timely manner
- Must be able to operate independently, make sound decisions, and exercise good judgment during interactions with members and teammates
- Investigates and resolve member issues with little or no assistance, including all escalated member service issues
- Assists in Disaster Recovery and all system upgrades to include testing and updating of department procedures
- Upholds credit union policies and procedures and champions organizational culture both internally and externally
