This position allows for 3/4 days per week remote / work from home. Salary: $70,000 - 85,000/yearWe are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Corporate Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our legal team. The Corporate Bankruptcy Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in all stages of corporate bankruptcy proceedings, including case preparation, document management, and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Case Management:
  • Assist attorneys in preparing bankruptcy filings, including petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, and reorganization plans.
  • Maintain electronic and physical case files, organizing documents, pleadings, and correspondence in accordance with court requirements and firm protocols.
  • Monitor case deadlines and manage calendars to ensure timely compliance with court orders, filings, and hearings.
  • Document Review and Analysis:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial records, contracts, agreements, and other relevant documents to identify assets, liabilities, and potential claims.
  • Analyze debtor's financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements to assess financial viability and develop strategies for bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Prepare summaries and reports of findings for attorneys, highlighting key issues and recommendations for action.
  • Client Communication and Support:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, creditors, and other parties involved in bankruptcy proceedings, responding to inquiries and providing status updates as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings, conference calls, and document exchanges between attorneys and clients, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the process.
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, and motions for attorney review and filing with bankruptcy courts and regulatory agencies.
  • Court Filings and Proceedings:
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, motions, notices, and other court documents electronically or in person, adhering to local rules and procedures.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for bankruptcy hearings, trials, and meetings of creditors, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and presentation materials.
  • Attend court proceedings as necessary to provide support to attorneys and clients, taking notes and recording key developments for case management purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience required; paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a paralegal in a corporate bankruptcy practice or related legal field.
  • Proficiency in bankruptcy software applications (e.g., PACER, Best Case, Legal Files) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and external stakeholders.
