The Front Desk Shift Lead provides essential leadership to the team of full-time and seasonal Front Desk staff at the Highland Center. Through coaching, training, and supporting staff on the morning and afternoon dayparts, the Shift Lead ensures an exceptional quality of experience for both guests and visitors to the lodge. As members of the Front Desk leadership team, the Shift Lead also plays a critical role in cash management, inventory management, AMC membership support, advanced reservations support, and more. Their voices are an important part of how we continuously improve operations as a team! What you’ll be doing at AMC:
- Sharing your passion for the AMC and the landscapes of the Northeast!
- Training, coaching, and supporting staff as the first level of Front Desk leadership
- Role-modeling exceptional guest service on the morning and afternoon dayparts
- Collaborating with the Front Desk leadership team to share feedback and continuously improve operations
- Providing high-quality information about outdoor recreation in the region, including hiking, snowshoeing, Nordic and downhill skiing, and more
- Helping oversee operational processes at the Front Desk, including cash management, inventory management, membership data entry, lost & found item tracking, and more
- Learning key management skills like feedback, team communication, staffing and scheduling, training resources, and more
- Participating in AMC Search & Rescue coordination, including capturing and relaying incident information
Qualifications
What AMC is looking for:
- Passion for the AMC and the landscapes of the Northeast (including the White Mountains)
- A desire to lead others and to grow your management skill set
- The ability to coach others effectively with empathy and kindness
- Proven track record of exceptional customer service (in retail, food service, hospitality, or other)
- Experience recreating outdoors (this could include any outdoor activity, e.g. walking, hiking, birdwatching, paddling, trail running, skiing, climbing, etc.)
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings
- Physical requirements of this position include the ability to work in an office setting, operate computers, and stand for 8+ hours a day
- First aid certifications (including WFA and CPR) desirable but not required
What AMC Can Offer You
Salary range: $15/hr
