JOB TITLE:  Assistant Aquatics Director

LOCATION:   Don Fisher Clubhouse

REPORTS TO:  Aquatics Director

JOB TYPE:  Full-Time, Exempt 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Reporting directly to the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Program Manager Assistant Aquatics Director shall assist in planning and organizing all BGCSF aquatics programs as well as supporting the overall maintenance and upkeep of the aquatics center. The Assistant Aquatics Director will be responsible for the development of the BGCSF Competitive Swim Team and in charge of one of the four swim team training groups. 

Requirements

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Day to Day Leadership (Off-Deck Duties)

  • Assist with outreach and recruitment plans, both within the core membership of BGCSF and to the surrounding community, to help grow the aquatics program.
  • Assist with planning & scheduling aquatics programs at the Don Fisher Aquatics Center.
  • Maintain regular communication with athletes, families, and coaches within Pacific Swimming.
  • Scheduling swim assessments and orientations for prospective families.

Program Management (On Deck Duties)

  • Assist with the general upkeep of the Don Fisher Aquatics Center, including daily maintenance of the facility and equipment.
  • Must have the visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency; the ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures; the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
  • Assist with Learn-to-Swim, Recreation Swim, and Water Smart program execution.
  • Serve as the primary coach for at least one of the four BGCSF Swim Team training groups.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the swim team.
  • Develop season training plans for practice group(s).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest coaching techniques.
  • Attend local and travel meets.

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association) Level 2.
  • Must have current certifications in Lifeguard training, First-Aid, and CPR for the professional rescuer.
  • Current USA Swim Coaching Membership in good standing, with relevant certifications.
  • Two plus years of coaching experience with a focus on technique, race execution, and age/skill appropriate training and development for both novice to highly experienced swimmers.
  • Attend all full staff meetings.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn pool routine chemical testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Community outreach experience.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills.
  • Salesforce experience
  • Proficient with Google Suite Workspace 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of the position and to

Supervise program activities.

  • Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in the pool area.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform activities that require sustained concentration and attention.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, and other business and BGCSF needs.  At BGCSF,  our decisions are based on other factors and dependant on circumstances for each position.  Depending on the need and requirement of the position,  an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid-level, or top of the range for their role and compensation.  As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $72,000 to $73,000 annually.
