About the role
The Senior Director of Risk Management is responsible for directing the Operations Risk Management program, including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Vendor Risk and Business Continuity planning. The Senior Director leads and establishes the vision and direction of the organizations risk-based strategy and roadmap to mature the business continuity and resiliency posture.
Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:Job Duties:- Lead a team of high-performing and engaged employees in a hybrid work environment with some employees in remote locations, through effective people leadership practices including regular communication of performance expectations and feedback to employees to maintain high team performance; provide coaching and corrective action as required; actively support employee professional growth and development
- Develop and execute strategy recommendations and drive best practices to protect members, employees and other assets
- Manage overall operations of ERM, Business Continuity and Operations Risk Management functions
- Prepare monthly committee and quarterly board of directors reporting
- Lead the Compliance, Operations, Risk Committee (CORCO)
- Examine and analyze risk data both internally and externally to the organization to determine exposure to the financial institution and financial industry
- Establish and meet established department metrics and KPI/KRI’s
- Update leader on all major projects, employee issues and goal progress
- Collaborate with business units to establish and communicate policies and standards
- Minimum 10 years’ of experience in Risk Management; financial industry experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ at a senior management level, leading a Risk Operations Program
- Experience using a Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) sofware (i.e. Protecht)
- Experience integrating a GRC with other business functions (i.e. Cyber, Internal Audit, Business Continuity, Vendor Risk, etc.)
- Strong knowledge in ERM, risk appetite generation, new product and service initiatives, and internal controls
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and deliver a business plan and strategy that is in alignment with credit union and department objectives
- Strong leadership skills to effectively lead a team through innovation and change
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal/external partners and key stakeholders
- Ability to deliver effective stakeholder presentations to both peer and executive level audiences
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects in accordance with short-and-long range objectives
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to resolve complex issues with minimal direction
- Working knowledge of MS Office and related applications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or other related fields of study or equivalent experience
- Certification/License: Certified risk management professional
