About the role

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigates all vendor and occupational license applicants by conducting background investigations, interviewing individuals, compiling and analyzing gathered data/information that is developed from investigative leads, and summarizing findings in well-written reports.
  • Gathers, verifies, and analyzes personal, professional, credit/financial, criminal, civil, and educational documents, contacts other agencies, governments, and professional organizations to obtain and verify information. Researches, obtains, and reviews data from various databases and information systems to verify information and/or check for inconsistencies related to applicant information.
  • Conducts thorough and complete investigations according to department policies, applicable laws, and department standard operating procedures. Reviews surveillance footage, data, information, statements, and other documents for information and directs subjects to provide additional information if needed in order to arrive at a logical conclusion.
  • Investigates incidents that occur on gaming enterprise property by interviewing individuals and compiling and analyzing gathered data/information that is developed from investigative leads. An Investigator shall assess investigative leads for a case and may follow additional leads.
  • Investigator has the responsibility of handling multiple investigations at the same time and must balance and prioritize cases according to the needs of the Gaming Commission. An Investigator must balance contacting a sufficient number of sources in order to obtain a complete understanding of an incident or vendor’s or individual’s background history. Investigator must possess a high-level of professional judgment in pursuing leads and maintain this investigative balance.
  • Investigator is empowered to interview, investigate, check records, analyze information and exercise independent thought and decision-making to further develop information when necessary.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Two years related experience preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Apply for and maintain gaming license.
  • Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens.
