Thermoforming Process Technician

 GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Process Technician creates thermoforming processes for new products, improves, documents, and monitors processes.

The Process Technician is in charge of the thermoforming process and procedures used convert raw materials into finished products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adjusts and evaluates machine parameters and other settings.
• Ensure a tidy, clean, and safe process equipment area.
• Evaluates the quality of products from sample batches.
• Creates logs / data entries and ensure proper documentation.
• Collaborates with Operators, Quality, and Supervisors to complete projects.
• Operates thermoforming equipment while developing, modifying, and improving processes.
• Communicates with Supervisors about equipment errors and process issues.
• Updates and monitors processes to ensure maximum output with minimum defects in the production process.
• Prepares, organizes, and gathers the necessary paperwork to demonstrate adherence to safety standards and quality standards.
• A primary responsibility of Process Technician is checking the final product to ensure it meets the company's quality standards. Checking for quality means the product they produce is consistent and maintains the company's brand image. If they notice an issue with the product, they can check the machinery to see if there's a defect and address it.
• Coordinates, controls and lead the execution of production processes. Maintains the highest level of accuracy. Maintains Darnel safety & quality standards in all aspects of job performance.
• Performs analyses to identify root cause problems. Works with Supervisor to identify actions plans to eliminate process inefficiencies. Works with TF Operators on reducing nonstandard scrap. Develops action plans to reduce nonstandard scrap. Validates roll consumption per line, IOT(production monitoring system) accuracy, and machine cycles per minute.
• Provides feedback and may make recommendations to the supervisor regarding operator performance. Attend daily meetings to review daily issues and create plans to avoid future problems.
• Update manuals, production profiles and operation procedures and suggest changes to management. Trains personnel to ensure production operations run as safely, efficiently and effectively as possible. Validates training methods and makes recommendations for improvement to training process, checklists and testing.
• Documents and/or communicate shift issues or events to his/her supervisor. Assists the supervisor in reviewing the accuracy and completeness of the shift’s quality control paperwork, production tracking and computer data entry.
• Reports and communicates any machinery problems, repairs or PMs to the maintenance department.

Requirements

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead new products and trials.
• Maintains good housekeeping on equipment, floors, trash cans and waste according to AIB (ANSI International Standards of Baking) requirements.
• Performs any other assigned duties or tasks requested by management.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Can read, write, and has a good command of the English language, both written and spoken and be able to perform simple math.
• Knowledge and ability to modify Excel and Word documents.
• Must be able to read and use measurement instruments.
• Forklift certification required.

PHYSICALS DEMANDS:

• Vision correctable to 20/20.
• Lifting up to 55 lbs. from floor to waist high.
• Frequent bending and stooping.
• Frequent climbing up and down ladders.
• Use a utility knife following prescribed safety regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The lighting is good, temperatures will be hot in summer and cold in the winter. Earplugs, eye protection, steel toed shoes and hair nets are required in the production area. Gloves, face-shield and other various types of protective equipment must be worn when working around certain equipment.
