Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.Position DescriptionThe Custodian and Housekeeping Maintenance , under limited supervision from the Building Services Supervisor, performs various duties requiring skill and technical knowledge in general housekeeping, maintenance, and campus event set-up, flips, and break downs for all campus events. Works with Special Event Coordinator to ensure the location is fully equipped and prepared for smooth execution of events.Job DutiesJob DutyFloor maintenance: Vacuum, shampoo carpets, dust mop, strip wax tile and hard surfaces floors. Furniture, sills, shelves: Dust and spot clean blackboards and erasers, realign classroom chairs, vacuum upholstered furniture. Doors, walls, ceilings and windows: clean glass, dust and spot clean, remove cobwebs. Fixtures: clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, sinks and drinking fountains, polish fixtures, clean mirrors. Containers: refill soap, towel and tissue dispensers. Waste containers: empty waste baskets and wipe clean. Be able to recognize and separate recyclable material from containers and take it to collection bins. Maintain equipment (vacuum, buffers, etc.). Serve as custodial floater for 2nd shift.Essential FunctionYesPercentage of Time40Job DutyRemove and replace light bulbs, clean light fixtures of debris, perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs. As assigned through the SchoolDude work order system perform assigned repairs and maintenance as assigned which will include: general maintenance, painting, carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical that does not require certification. Under hazardous weather conditions will perform snow and ice removal. Must be able to handle minor emergency repairs in each of these areas.Essential FunctionYesPercentage of Time40Job DutyProvide assistance set up for special events. Event set-ups/flips/breakdowns: Set up required resources (tables, chairs, stages, podiums, flooring, stanchions, etc.) for each venue event as requested by customer. All set-ups will be neat, clean, orderly and in good working condition.
