ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
Opening in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling.  Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum’s collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas’s filmmaking career. 
 
Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, café, retail store, and community spaces.  
 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Retail, the Assistant Manager, Visual Merchandising leads the execution of visual presentation strategies that enhance the guest experience, strengthen brand storytelling, and support sales growth. This role oversees the day-to-day visual appearance of the store, ensuring displays, signage, and merchandising standards are executed with creativity, consistency, and attention to detail to create an engaging and customer-focused shopping environment.  

The Assistant Manager also fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture that promotes creativity, operational excellence, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging through thoughtful visual representation and team leadership. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the execution and maintenance of visual merchandising standards, floor sets, and product displays 

  • Ensure the sales floor is visually compelling, organized, and aligned with brand and seasonal merchandising strategies 

  • Support the development and implementation of merchandising plans that drive customer engagement and sales performance 

  • Monitor visual presentation, product placement, and inventory flow to maximize space productivity and product visibility 

  • Train and coach frontline staff on merchandising standards, product presentation, and visual upkeep expectations 

  • Partner with Operations teams to support efficient replenishment and execution of floor changes 

  • Collaborate with Customer Experience teams to ensure visual presentation enhances the overall guest journey 

  • Analyze sales trends and customer behavior to identify merchandising opportunities and improve product storytelling 

  • Maintain cleanliness, fixture organization, signage accuracy, and visual consistency throughout the store 
    Foster a creative, collaborative, and high-performing team culture aligned with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging principles 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience visual merchandising, or related experience role, preferably for an arts & cultural institution or prominent consumer brand 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 

  • Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles, space planning, product presentation, and customer
