Job Description
MBK Senior Living is hiring a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at our Home Office in Irvine, CA!Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and will perform traditional accounting responsibilities and financial reporting functions ranging from expense accruals, payables processing, balance sheet account reconciliations and recurring month-end close processes to year end work papers and annual audit compliance support. This position is responsible for the financial statements and related support of approximately 10 senior living properties (communities).

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in the general ledger month-end close and presentation of the balance sheet and income statement results and analysis.
Accountable for all that goes into our monthly financial statements.
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Performs bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
Provides support to the Executive Directors and Business Office Managers in understanding their expenses and financial performance.
Perform general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations.
Accounts Payable – Final reviewer and approver of AP invoices for your properties.
Payroll: Prepare the general ledger payroll and benefit journal entries and perform account reconciliation for payroll and benefit activities. Activities will include booking payroll, accruing payroll, adjusting accrued vacation liabilities, and other related responsibilities.
Accounting for property taxes, annual insurance policies, capital expenditures vs. operating expenses, loan balances/impounds reconciled with payments/accruals, etc…
Internal Control: Provide support for the implementation, documentation, and monitoring of internal controls.
Audit Support – Help the Accounting Manager with selections and support for the annual financial statement audits.
Participate in special projects related to accounting systems, internal/external reporting, and other special division and corporate requests as necessary.
Other related activities that may be required and deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience Requirements (in years):
Graduated with minimal experience ok, a year or two of experience preferred
Required Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles
Skilled in general ledger account reconciliations
Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
