Accountant - EU VAT/VIES experience preferred (ZR_18798_JOB)

• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Limassol, Cyprus Time with 1 hour unpaid break
  

Job Summary:
The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accounting compliance of our clients by managing their financial records and ensuring VAT compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in VAT and VIES reporting specifically in the context of EU regulations. While an in-depth expertise in VAT is not required, a basic understanding of how VAT works in Europe and the ability to follow compliance procedures is essential.You will be responsible for performing bookkeeping tasks, maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records for clients, and liaising with them to obtain any missing documentation. Additionally, you will assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other financial reports as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  
• Perform daily bookkeeping and account reconciliations, including bank, debtor, and creditor accounts.
  
• Prepare and submit VAT and VIES returns in accordance with Cyprus and EU regulations.
  
• Ensure proper VAT accounting and ensure the business remains VAT-compliant.
  
• Process and reconcile transactions related to VAT on purchases and sales.
  
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
  
• Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  
• Maintain accurate records for VAT inspections and audits.
  
• Communicate effectively with clients to resolve accounting-related queries and ensure satisfaction with services.
  

Requirements

• Proven experience as an accountant, with a focus on accounting compliance for multiple clients.
  
• Strong knowledge of VAT and VIES regulations in Cyprus/EU. (A basic understanding of European VAT compliance and willingness to learn and apply Cyprus-specific VAT practices is sufficient.)
  
• Proficiency in accounting software.
  
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proficiency in English (verbal and written).
  
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  
• Prior experience in an accounting firm or corporate environment is highly desirable.
