Examples of duties
This role combines outreach, claims assistance, and advocacy to ensure veterans receive essential benefits and services. As a Veterans Services Officer, DMVA, you will perform the following duties:
- Claims Management: Manage veteran claims by preparing applications, gathering evidence, and reviewing decisions
- Advocacy Support: Guide veterans and beneficiaries through state and federal benefits processes
- Regional Outreach: Travel within the region to conduct outreach, attend events, and collaborate with partners
- Public Engagement: Share information through multiple channels and speak to groups about veterans programs
- Program Records: Maintain accurate databases, update materials, and assist with program development
- Legislative Input: Provide guidance on issues that impact veterans in the assigned region

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Veterans Services Specialist, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs; or
- One year of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs and a bachelor's degree in human services, business administration, public administration, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial class C driver's license or equivalent.
This job requires you to possess valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment.
- You must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Region 5 area to support these counties due to travel within
