Job Description

The Ranger Medical Technician (RMT) provides immediate medical assistance and emergency response services to guests and staff in a high-altitude, outdoor environment. The RMT ensures the health and safety of visitors by administering first aid, performing patient assessments, coordinating with other emergency responders, and providing patient transport as needed. The RMT also collaborates with resort operations and ski patrol to maintain a safe environment for all guests and workers on the mountain. This position reports to the Bike Patrol Manager.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies on the ski slopes, resort property, and surrounding areas
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and other life-saving interventions as required
  • Assess and stabilize injured or ill individuals, preparing them for transport to medical facilities if necessary
  • Work closely with bike patrol, other medical staff, and local emergency services for efficient care coordination
  • Perform patient assessments to determine the severity of injuries and make decisions about appropriate care
  • Maintain & review medical records and ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and timely
  • Provide basic care for minor injuries (e.g., cuts, bruises, sprains) and ensure follow-up care as needed
  • Conduct safety inspections and assist in identifying potential hazards within the resort
  • Participate in safety drills and trainings, ensuring readiness for all medical emergencies
  • Educate guests and staff on basic first aid and safety practices
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment
  • Others duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements 
•    Must be 18 years of age or older 
•    Vocational, Technical school or equivalent preferred
•    Current CPR certification 
•    Minimum of Colorado EMT-P 
•    Valid, current and unrestricted Driver’s License 
•    6 months in a medical emergency response role or Winter Ski Patrol experience preferred 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
•    Knowledge of company policies and procedures 
•    Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and must have a strong aptitude for software
•    Familiarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standards 
•    Proficient mountain biking skills with ability to transport materials uphill and downhill (as required) 
•    Knowledge of sport injuries, mountain terrain, and altitude-related medical conditions
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members
•    Ability to stay calm and perform under pressure in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
•    Physical fitness to handle the demands of the position, including lifting, carrying, and hiking over uneven terrain
•    Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, completing work at a high standard   
•    Ability to be a team player, working collaboratively with others
•    Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time

Work Environment and physical demands 

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time  
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces .Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually
