As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of our MLOps team responsible for developing, monitoring, and operating our state-of-the-art ML Serving platform. You will bring life changing algorithms to our customers by productionizing Medtronic developed AI/ML Algorithms. You will be responsible for optimizing performance, efficiency, and cost to provide best in class value for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) business and customers. This position will participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform uptime.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Software Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Design, Develop and test software for class I, II and III medical devices.
- Learn and understand software standards for Medical devices, ex. IEC62304.
- Define, maintain and implement software requirements and designs and review software developed by other team members.
- Build prototypes, frameworks, development kits and accelerator systems suitable for engineering evaluations and testing.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
- Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
- Design, develop, maintain and execute tests including unit, integration and verification testing and create and maintain documentation generated from testing.
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.
- Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
- Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices
- Proven proficiency in C/C++ programming
- Solid understanding of Software Development processes and environment
- Multi-threaded coding experience, with both asynchronous and synchronous code

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 4 years of Software Development experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of Software Development experience
Nice to Have
- Mobile application development for iOS and/or Android
- Proficiency in Java, C#, or Objective-C
- Experience working with communication interfaces such as BL
