Job Description:

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

This position serves in the Nebraska State Law Library within the State Capitol. This classification level is responsible for providing circulation services to students, faculty and staff. Responsibilities may include checking books in and out; providing general library information to patrons; preparing circulation materials; opening and/or closing the library; accepting payments for fines; filling copiers and printers with paper; and performing standard clerical duties. This is a part-time position with a suggested schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs circulation desk duties, which includes: determining and responding to needs of patrons; referring patrons to appropriate areas within the Library; checking in/out borrowed materials; and sorting materials.

  • Participates in collection maintenance activities, which includes: retrieving and unpacking shipments; processing materials; adding records into online catalog or tracking spreadsheet; putting materials in stacks; placing materials on library shelves or other designated areas; and preparing materials for professional binding as needed.

  • Provides customer service to patrons, which includes: responding to questions; explaining Library policies and procedures; and giving directions.

  • Processes orders for publications, which includes: tracking orders; checking order forms for accuracy and completeness; following up with senders on discrepancies; tracking and keeping records of payments; preparing disposes; and maintaining appropriate paperwork.

  • Prepares periodicals and briefs for the bindery.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
