We are seeking a hands-on Lead Test Engineer to oversee a team of testers supporting New York Life’s Technology Modernization Initiative. This role blends technical depth with strong leadership. You will define and drive quality engineering practices that ensure reliability, scalability, and performance across modern enterprise platforms.
As a key member of the Technology organization, you will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to embed quality at every stage of the agile delivery lifecycle. You will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, guiding your team in modern testing techniques, automation strategies, and shift-left quality practices.
What You’ll Do

Lead a team of test engineers supporting New York Life’s Technology Modernization Initiative, driving quality strategies across platforms and releases.

Define and implement modern testing frameworks and practices for functional, non-functional, and performance testing within an agile environment.

Partner with technology and business teams to embed quality early in the development lifecycle and promote shift-left testing principles.

Integrate and optimize test automation to ensure reliability, scalability, and rapid feedback loops.

Explore and apply AI-driven testing approaches—such as autonomous test generation and self-healing frameworks—to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement through mentorship, metrics, and quality best practices.
What You’ll Bring
You are an experienced quality engineering leader who excels at problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration. You’re comfortable guiding a team through complex testing efforts and championing practices that drive continuous improvement.
You communicate effectively with both technology and business partners, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the agile delivery process. You’re curious, adaptable, and eager to explore new tools, practices, and AI-driven innovations to strengthen testing capabilities and deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

7+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering, including experience leading teams.

Strong understanding of modern testing practices within an agile environment.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technology and business partners.

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
Preferred Skills

Familiarity with Varicent Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) platform.

Experience with AI-driven testing or emerging quality engineering technologies.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $97,500-$139,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
