Job Summary:

Vanderbilt Laboratory Services is seeking to hire Medical Technologists (MLS 2)’s and Medical Lab Technicians (MLT 2)’s, whom will report to the Team Leader(s) of our VUMC Diagnostic Core Laboratories teams at our TVC and MetroCenter locations. The MLTech 2, is responsible for performing routine clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services, under occasional guidance.

This position has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and the evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment. Applies clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results, which leads to quality patient care outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate performance of routine and complex tests through the pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic stages.
•    Performs qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures, including reagent preparation and appropriate quality control, according to required protocols, with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
•    Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships as well as physiological conditions affecting test results.
•    The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Categorical MLS or MLT Certification with either AMT or ASCP
  • Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician licensure with the State of Tennessee (TN)
  • Core labs benchwork expierence with an academic medical center
     

Position Shift:
Vanderbilt Laboratory Services: TVC and MetroCenter Core labs locations, Fulltime, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotations.

Signing Incentives: $10,000.00 Signing Bonus and Relocation Stipend Signing Incentives 

Sign-On Bonus Requirements:

The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past 12 months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions.

Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
