Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, the part-time nurse will provide medically necessary nursing services to clients in assigned areas within CCMHC. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.

Responsibilities for the Part-Time Nurse:

  • Provide medically necessary nursing services including but not limited to nursing assessments and medication monitoring for effectiveness and side effects
  • Attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings/staffings, including staffing with MD at CCMHC. Provide medical testing for staff as required. Pursue continuing education and training. Maintain positive professional relationships with MHC staff, and community agencies, as well as, clients and their families.  Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training and support services to the community at large.
  • Provide coordination & consultation for case managers and MD’s to meet the needs of the clients served including but not limited to medication needs and necessary coordination with outside resources regarding health care needs.
  • Provide nursing education to clients and their families regarding medication, management of symptoms, health care issues, and healthy living.


Examples of duties

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience; or a three (3) year diploma and two (2) years of experience; or an associate degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse, one (1) of which must have been in a community health program.
  • A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.
Additional Requirements:
  • Employee must be licensed to practice nursing in SC and must qualify as a Registered Nurse as defined by SCDBHDD / CCMHC Quality Assurance.        


Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy. 

Supplemental information

Post hire, employees must: 

  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification. 
  • Have knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy. 
  • Be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule and know this position is considered essential and may be called back during crises / disasters/ emergencies. 
  • Be able to deliver services in the community and patients' homes. 
  • Perform all job duties and provide all services and documentation in compliance with CARF, OMH, CCMHC, Quality Assurance, Compliance, HIPAA, Transcultural and Productivity Standards, Policies and Procedures
