Position Overview:

Dutch Bros is looking for an individual to join our Accounting team for the summer Emerging Talent Program. This role will include a rotation through different areas in the Accounting department at Dutch Bros HQ such as Consolidations, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting, and Tax & functions. 

*For the duration of the program (June 1st - July 31st) housing will be provided, however reliable transportation is needed to and from the program. Additionally, the program is rooted in professional development, full-time employment conversion is not guaranteed.

Job Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting at a four year university. If currently enrolled, must be at least in Sophomore year. 

• Must be a current Dutch Bros crew member for at least 1 year. 

• Strong academic foundation in general accounting, profit and loss, and financial statements. 

• General understanding of corporate accounting and monthly close processes.

Location Requirement: 

This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

• Monthly Close Support: Actively participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and reconciliations across the General Ledger and Consolidations teams.

• Rotational Proficiency: Successfully complete project-based rotations in Accounts Payable, Tax, and Financial Reporting, demonstrating an understanding of each function’s unique impact on the business.

• Audit & Compliance Readiness: Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation for financial statements and tax filings, ensuring 100% accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

• Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate effectively with teams to gather financial data for accounting insights.

Skills:

• Technical Accounting: Developing proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), financial statement analysis, and P&L management.

• Financial Systems: Gaining hands-on experience with corporate ERP software and advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Data Modeling).

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify variances in financial data and investigate the "why" behind the numbers.

• Professionalism & Integrity: Maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards when handling sensitive Dutch Bros financial information.

• Time Management: Balancing rotational project deadlines with the recurring demands of the monthly accounting cycle.

Physical Requirements:

• In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

  • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

• Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

• Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

• Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

• Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
