We are searching for a Bachelor graduate with a Biology Major who is available immediately for a Research Tech IV position, in the Tissue Stem Cell Biology Lab led by Tudorita Tumbar, Professor in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University.
The successful candidate should have at least 1-2 years of lab experience in areas related to our work. The candidate will in part (~40% time) cover lab-managing functions including ordering reagents, lab equipment maintenance and other lab-organization functions, such as scheduling group meetings. For the remaining 60% the candidate will assist with experimental and biocomputational genomic analysis work as follows: mouse-breeding and genotyping related work; tissue collection and processing; performing cell and molecular biology procedures including cell culture work, fluorescence microscopy, fluorescence activated cell sorting, sample processing for genomic analysis. Relevant lab experience in these areas is required.
This is a one-year fixed term appointment with benefits, with possibility of extension depending on funding.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with Major in Biology with additional 1-2 years of lab experience in a relevant lab.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting to achieve departmental and research lab goals.
- Exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the research lab and the Department.
- Familiarity with basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel; visual concentration and manual dexterity are required.
- Familiarity with large data-sets genomic analysis, including Pro-seq, ATAC-seq, scRNA-seq, CUT&Run
- Ability to communicate clearly and work with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to quickly learn and independently develop new experimental and computational tools
- Awareness that protocols and procedures adhere to safety requirements.
- Experience working with inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing programs.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the lab techniques and approaches enumerated above.
