Job Overview

           Are you ready to be apart of something BIG?  Komatsu is searching for a Sr. Cost Accountant to support the Longview Operations facility. The Sr. Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll and benefits-related postings to the general ledger, supporting the integrity of financial reporting. This role supports product costing and margin analysis to drive visibility into manufacturing performance and cost drivers. The position also owns the identification, analysis, and financial impact of excess and obsolete inventory, ensuring reserves are accurate and aligned with business realities, as well as assisting with external/internal audits. Through strong analytical insight, this role supports operational and financial decision-making.

    

Key Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and post all payroll and benefits-related entries to the general ledger
• Payroll/benefit analysis as-needed
• Assist with timely and accurate month-end closing duties
• Assist with product costing/analysis
• Preparation, posting, and analysis of Excess & Obsolete (E&O) Inventory
• Assist with all audits as needed
• Perform cost variance analysis
• Assist with preparation and loading of budgets and forecasts
• Work with the organization to ensure SOX compliance is maintained

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education and/or Experience
  • BBA in Accounting from accredited college or university, and 1+ years experience in a Cost Accounting position with a manufacturing company
• Certificates, Licenses, or other Registrations
  • None
• Tools, Technology and Equipment
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Windows based accounting packages is required
• Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Other Skills and Abilities
  • Technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis, and month-end close responsibilities
  • Excellent understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers and at all levels within the organization
  • Proven business/financial analysis skills with commitment to drive initiatives

Additional Information

• Proficient in MS Excel and Windows-based software
• Experience with integrated operational finance systems preferred

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $NA. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
